Hilton launched a new promotion which gives you the chance to earn progressively more bonus Virgin miles.
You can earn up to 15,000 Flying Club bonus miles if you book and stay at any participating hotel within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio between September 26 and December 31, 2012.

To participate in the offer, you must be a Hilton HHonors member. Registration is required.
You must select Virgin Atlantic Airways in your HHonors profile as your preferred airline. Also, don’t forget to select one of the two Double Dip Earnings Style options: HHonors Points and Variable Miles or HHonors Points and Fixed Miles.

Below’s an example of bonus points you’ll earn through this promotion, based on the number of stays:
Stay 1 = 1000 bonus points;
Stay 2 = 2000 bonus points;
Stay 3 = 3000 bonus points;
Stay 4 = 4000 bonus points;
Stay 5 = 5000 bonus points.

So, if you spend 5 stays during the promotion period, you would earn 15,000 bonus miles, besides the 5000 miles you would earn regularly.

»»How Business Travelers Use Mobile Apps in the UK

A survey about the usage of mobile apps when travelling for business revealed that around 39 per cent of business travelers in the UK are not using them at all.
The study, commissioned by travel and expense company Concur, which surveyed 1,000 UK business travelers, also said 11% of business travelers in the UK even don’t have a device to run these apps.

Browsing social networking sites and using maps dominate as most popular internet activities among business travelers in the UK, the study found.
60 per cent of respondents said they are using always, often or occasionally social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, as 90 per cent said they are using maps like Google or Bing.

Other key findings about how UK business travelers are using mobile apps, include the following:

- 83 per cent of business travelers who use mobile apps say it improves the travel experience;

- 76 per cent of business travelers who are making use of apps have never used any apps to help manage their travel expenses quickly and efficiently;

- just 40 per cent of app-using business travelers take advantage of airline apps;

- just 32 per cent of respondents said they use airport information apps.

»»Business Travel Spending Forecasts For Europe (Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain)

Business travel spending among major European markets is expected to drop by 2.2% in 2012 to $177 billion USD, according to GBTA BTI Outlook – Western Europe report.
The study by The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), sponsored by Visa Inc., is a semi-annual analysis of business travel in Europe. It provides valuable insights into trends in domestic and international outbound business travel of the five major business travel markets in Europe — accounting for around 70% of total business travel market in Europe — Germany, the UK, France, Italy and Spain.
The report also shows that business travel market in this region is expected to grow by 1.4% in 2013.

The table below shows the forecasts of GBTA BTI — an index of business travel spending — for these five business travel markets.

Below, domestic and international business travel spending for the five major business travel markets in Europe.

Germany: in 2012 domestic business travel spending will increase 2.8%, as international outbound spending will fall -3.0%.

UK: in 2012 international outbound spending will decline -3.1% and domestic business travel spending will grow 1.6%; in 2013, domestic business travel is expected to rise 2.3% and spending on international outbound business travel will grow 3.9%.

France: domestic business travel is expected to be flat in 2012 followed by a 4.5% increase in 2013; international outbound spending will fall -5.7% in 2012 and another -4.6% in 2013.

Italy: in 2012 domestic business travel spending will fall -6.5%, as international outbound business travel will record a -10% drop; in 2013 both are expected to fall again, -0.8% and -3.9% respectively.

Spain: Spending on domestic business travel will decline -5.9% in 2012 and another -0.4% in 2013; international outbound spending is expected to fall -14.4% in 2012 and another -6.2% in 2013.

Southwest Airlines is offering double points on every flight booked and completed through November 15, 2012. Registration is required.

To take advantage of this offer you have to book and complete your travel between September 13, 2012 and November 15, 2012.

Southwest’ subsidiary AirTran is offering a similar promotion, that is also including a generous bonus for international flights and Business Class fares, during the same period.

It is offering double points (double A+ Credits) on all domestic AirTran flights between September 13, 2012 and November 14, 2012.
But it is also offering triple A+ Credits on all international AirTran flights, during the same period. That means you’ll receive one bonus credit for every one-way domestic flight and two bonus credits for every one-way international flight, in addition to the standard credits earned through A+ Rewards.
Members who purchase Business Class Fares will receive 1.5 bonus credits for every one-way domestic flight and three bonus credits for every one-way international flight.
AirTran account number must be entered at the time of booking.
