The new airline consumer protection rules take effect on today.

British Airways is providing some of its senior flight attendants with iPads.

It is just a trial,if it will prove successful in enhancing customer service and improving safety, the airline roll them out to all senior cabin crewmembers in coming months.

The iPads, preloaded with British Airways safety documents, including information about each passenger on board, allow flight attendants to locate specific passengers, determine who they are traveling with, and give information on meal and other passengers requests.

Beginning the end of October 2011, Lufthansa flights between Frankfurt and Abu Dhabi will no longer continue onwards to Muscat, Oman.

That means Lufthansa will give full capacity of the aircraft to passengers on the Frankfurt – Abu Dhabi route.

The move is a response to an increased passenger traffic demand on flights between Frankfurt and Abu Dhabi — + 14% compared with the same period last year.
Last October, Lufthansa had introduced a daily service on the same route.
