»»Ryanair Plans To Introduce Standing Room Only Fares
Ryanair announced it is working to introduce a standing area with “vertical seats” to its fleet. The airline’s chief executive, Michael O’Leary, who also said about his plans to introduce coin-operated loos, was quoted on
Telegraph as saying: “The other change we’ve been looking at is taking out the last 10 rows of seats so we will have 15 rows of seats and the equivalent of 10 rows of standing area”.

Seats in this vertical seating section would cost as little as £4.
However European Aviation Safety Agency said Ryanair’s “vertical seat” proposal would be highly unlikely to be certified in the near future.
“To our knowledge, no airlines or other operators have made an application for stand-up seats. What they are proposing would be unprecedented…. Stand-up seating would require changes to European rules for the certification of aircraft.” a European Aviation Safety Agency spokesman said. (source)
