»»Boston Logan Airport’s Authority Expects 6 Percent Passenger Traffic Decline in 2009
Massachusetts Port Authority — Massport — that runs the Boston’s Logan International Airport plans to cut 4.5 percent of its budget as it projects fewer travelers will fly through the Boston’s airport during the first half of 2009, The Boston Globe reports.

The newspaper quoted Massport’s chief executive Thomas J. Kinton Jr. as saying that last year, Logan served over 26.1 million passengers, down 7.1 percent from its record of 28.1 million passengers in 2007.
Massachusetts Port Authority’s officials expect monthly passenger traffic at the airport will be down of about 5 to 6 percent during the first half of this year compared with the same period in 2008.
The authority which had already cut its budget by 3.4% in September, is considering everything from layoffs to reductions in some of its transportation services to and from the airport to offset a possible drop in food, retail, and parking revenues.
