»»Lower Base Fares & Many Extra Fees - New AA Pricing Structure?

It seems that the “a la carte pricing structure” first launched by Air Canada will be imitated by American Airlines.

The Associated Press reports AA plans to give travelers lower base fares with the option to pick additional services for a fee. A pricing structure focusing on breaking the fare into an airfare plus many smaller fees.

In the latest months airlines have continuously added new fees for fuel, checked baggage, and other services.
American Airlines was the first U.S. carrier to charge a fee for checking the first piece of luggage.
