»»BA Premium Traffic Hardly Hit by Financial Markets Crisis
British Airways said its overall traffic declined 4.8 percent from a year earlier, with its Premium traffic (first- and business-class) dropped 8.6 percent in September.
In August BA Premium traffic had increased 2.2 percent, that led BA to hope that business-class travel could not be affected by the economic slowdown.

However the London-based airline registered a more than doubled decrease in Premium traffic if compared to the Economy traffic (declined 4.1 percent in September).
The troubles of the financial markets — City of London and Wall Street, affected North Atlantic routes, a very lucrative market for BA. Financial institutions account for 13 of the top 50 business clients at British Airways.
Another factor driving the drop in Premium traffic, was the advent of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, with BA traffic to the Middle East also fell 12 percent in September due to it. (source: Bloomberg.com)
