»»What Airlines Charge For Checked Baggage
In the effort to boost profitability most of airlines are charging for items that were previously included in the cost of the ticket.

An example of that is the new airlines’ policy about the checked bags.
Airlines are charging for bags that once were free to check and raising prices for fliers with overweight bags.
Most airlines charge the most for bags weighing 71 to 100 pounds. Four airlines — Aloha, Continental , Hawaiian and Northwest — do not allow such bags to be checked.
