»»Hotel rates: Moscow most expensive city
According to a survey released by the travel management company Business Travel International (BTI), Moscow would be the most expensive city for hotel rooms among the main business and leisure destinations.

The report is based on the prices paid for more than 2 million hotel-room nights booked on behalf of BTI corporate clients in 2005.
The report found the average rate paid by BTI’s corporate clients for a hotel room in Moscow was £174.81 ($305), an increase of more than one-third, or almost $80, in the past 12 months.
Comparing with last year’s ranking Moscow ‘gained’ five places, leaping over New York, Rome, Paris, Milan and London. In the UK’s capital, which is the most expensive city for business travel according a The Economist survey, hotel rooms was almost £38 ($66) cheaper than in Moscow.
Moscow also is the city has recorded the second fastest price growth (+36%), ranked after Bangalore (+44%).
Stephane Meyrat, associate director for hotels at Colliers International said :
“The incredible surge in cash on the market from commodity price growth has added strong local demand for extremely luxurious facilities to steady foreign demand for European-quality rooms. But as new hotels are extremely slow to come to the market, prices are inevitably going to rise.”
Meyrat added it was clearly possible to find a hotel room in Moscow for far less than $300 per night, even if it might not be the kind of room BTI’s clients are looking for. ( source )
